The Hipparcos satellite successfully observed some minor planets, natural satellites and major planets. All positions, of high precisions, are directly referred to the Hipparcos catalogue. The contribution of Hipparcos for the ephemerides improvement of the minor planets of the mission is presented. The value of such observations for establishing the dynamical reference frame, and also determining photometric parameters of some bodies is also discussed. Based on the Hipparcos experience, the last section shows the value of solar system objects observation by an astrometric interferometer such as Gaia.
